2022 — the beginning of a full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine

What was February 24, 2022 for you like? Did you believe that a full-scale offensive would begin? Where are you now? What do you do?
What do you think about your future now?

14-8-22 is an online archive of personal stories by the residents of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, art reflections and memories of russia's war against Ukraine.

The project was created by the "Gareleya Neotodryosh" team. 90% of our team consists of residents of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, so for us the war between russia and Ukraine did not start on February 24, but 8 years ago. Already then, 1.7 million people turned to forcibly displaced persons. Already then, people were saving themselves from the "russian world" and the war that it brings with it.

The same situation is repeating itself for them, for the second time now.

For the second time, people are leaving their homes to save their lives.

For the second time, they lose everything.

For the second time they experience shelling and the death of loved ones.

For the second time they start their lives "from scratch".

We want to share the personal experience of people for whom this war is a significant part of their lives, because their stories can become an important part of the documentation of russia's war against Ukraine.

The main focus of the project is aimed at young artists from Luhansk and Donetsk regions. They encountered the war as children, kids in school or students. When the war comes, ordinary life changes forever, especially when it happens a second time.

Along with the stories, we also want to showcase the works of young artists from Luhansk and Donetsk regions, which can complement the stories themselves, their life’s memories or important moments.
